God equipped me for the appointment

Both Noah and Gideon earnestly prayed to God to find favour in His sight, and sure enough they did. It is a prayer I have prayed but as favour has opened doors for me, I realised I do not have the power to sustain myself when I get through to the other side. So I can boldly say that if there’s one thing we will always need as believers, it is the wisdom of God. It is the wisdom of God that will profit and prosper you, teach you how to move, what to say and where to go. This was a lesson I learnt earlier this year, when things at work required me to step up a level and operate on the level that favour had brought me to.

At one particular time, I found myself put in a situation where I had to attend a conference on behalf of my organisation and a subsequent meeting that would determine the continuation of funding for our project. Truth be told, I really had no desire to travel all the way to the location, neither to attend the conference or meeting but I was obedient to what had been placed in front of me. In obedience to what God had entrusted me to do through my secular place of work, I prayed to God and asked for His supernatural wisdom, grace and favour to come upon me. As bad as it sounds, I rarely prepare for things in advance and prefer to wing it on the day! Firstly, because there have been things I over-prepped and found it was a waste of time, but secondly, because I’m learning more and more to rely on the Holy Spirit to have His way. I walk into the room of the conference and check the attendees list and was shocked. I found myself in front of people with great influence within my sector, industry and government and sure enough the pressure was on. But to the glory of God, not only did He pour out His wisdom and favour, He saturated the place with it. People from the conference and subsequent meeting left singing my proverbial praises, and gave me every cause to give God glory. I knew that the things I said, the way I carried myself, and the deposit I left with others could only have been by the grace of God. Things went so well, that my boss offered his praise, which was not an easy thing to come by – believe that!

Now, this testimony might read short and sound simple, largely because there are some things I can’t go into full details about. But let it encourage you on three levels. First, be encouraged that God’s marvellous grace is sufficient and His wisdom is ready for whosoever asks for it. The second thing I want to encourage you with is this; there will never be a place that God will take you that His grace cannot sustain you to operate in. Third, and finally, I offer a gentle reminder that there should never be a platform or level that God brings you to that becomes so big you forget the God that brought you there.
