Increased salary after losing my job

I bought a property with my partner in August and started a new job 2 weeks later. I found balancing moving house and learning the new role difficult which led to me making mistakes. Although I did a lot of good for the company, these mistakes unfortunately cost me my job in December.

Thankfully, I was able to secure two interviews for new positions in January. I attended the first one and was offered the job same day! I got started almost immediately but wasn't content with the pay so decided to go ahead with the second interview that I had lined up. After doing the second interview, I was offered that job too!

I informally accepted the second job and handed in my notice at my current job, but was then offered a higher salary to stay in my current role!

What started as a financial step backwards has now become my highest salary to date.
