How I found my wife

I once read in a Christian relationship book: "I want a woman so lost in God that I need to go through Him to get her".

This resonated with me a lot so this became my prayer when searching for a wife. However, to my surprise, God drew me to an incredible young woman who I had met at university and who ticked all of my boxes, except the vital one. She wasn't born again! Despite this, everyone from my spiritual mentors to my parents confirmed on separate occasions what God had told me - this girl was to be my wife. I was confused but I knew that God was in this. How God? God prompted me to continue as her friend and said to me, "If you can make her my bride, I will make her yours". I knew I could only focus on doing this, however, whilst we remained friends. So we set out on a period of friendship and it was great.

At that point I began to grow in Christ, reading the Word daily where I hadn't been before, meditating, and visiting church regularly. Through my devotion to God, and the fruits that I was bearing, she got to be a witness to a life served for God. Soon enough, she gave her life to Christ and soon after, she told me that she was interested in starting a romantic relationship with me.

We've now been happily married for over two years and our union together has seen us grow deeper in intimacy with Our Father and also several of her family members become born again. I thank God for her life and for those obedient servants around me who encouraged me not to reject what I had heard because the circumstances didn't look as I had wanted to begin with. God used this period to mature me in Him, to learn better about being a companion and to trust His guidance.

Trust the Lord's promptings, lean not on your own understanding.
