Protected from an accident

After a friend’s party, four of us were getting a taxi home together. It was late and I was very tired but as usual, it took me ages to say bye to everyone, so I was the last one to get to the car. That would usually mean that I’d be the one to sit at the front next to the driver. However, on this occasion, my friend (let’s call her Rachel for the purposes of this testimony) sat at the front and I got into the back. Due to my tiredness, I quickly fell asleep. It was only the sudden braking of the car and Rachel shouting ‘we’re not going to make it!’ that woke me up.

After that followed a tense journey home, but we made it thank God! When we got home, Rachel told me the whole story. Our driver had been drifting in and out of sleep throughout the journey home. When Rachel shouted, our driver had been about to drive into the back of a truck and Rachel's shouting woke him up, meaning he swerved and stopped just in time. If Rachel had sat in the back of the car, and I had been asleep in the front, who knows what would have happened?

We thank God for His mercies!
